The 2019 Penn State Dance Marathon starts this Friday, February 15, 2019, at 6 p.m. on the dot. Over the past year, THON directors, captains, committee members, organizations and supporters have been hard at work planning celebratory events for THON 2019. Those lucky enough to have been selected as dancers have been busy preparing mentally and physically for what the weekend will bring. Regardless if you’re a spectator or more intimately involved in the event, it is always a wonderful weekend at Penn State that supports an amazing cause. We know that THON week can be a very stressful time for those involved in the 46-hour celebration, so we’ve compiled a list of essential items that every THON participant should have. Don’t forget that when you purchase from Lions Pride through February 17, 2019, 20% of your entire sale will go directly to THON as part of Lions Pride’s 4 Weeks for THON campaign. Support THON while shopping for your weekend needs. GO STATE, BEAT CANCER!THON Essentials Penn State Drawstring Bag While traditional backpacks aren’t allowed in the BJC during THON weekend, you are allowed to carry a simple drawstring bag for your weekend needs. Large enough to hold a water bottle, change of clothes, snacks, your ID and cell phone, Lions Pride has several different drawstring bags to choose from. This year, as part of our 4 Weeks for THON promotion, Lions Pride is offering a FREE 4 Weeks for THON drawstring bag with every $75 purchase. They are also available for $10 with ALL proceeds going directly to THON. Penn State Adjustable Ball Cap Showers don’t happen THON weekend. It’s just a fact. For that point in the weekend where you feel a little gross because you haven’t washed your hair, grab a colorful baseball cap. Not only will it make you feel better, but you’ll also add some extra color to the packed BJC. Reusable Penn State Water Bottle Staying hydrated THON weekend is essential. Even if you are a spectator, it is important to continually consume water throughout the 46 hours to ensure that you stay healthy and awake. Lions Pride has a great selection of colorful and traditional water bottles that will meet all your hydration needs. Penn State Media Wallet Nothing is more annoying than not being able to locate your student ID, credit/debit cards and cash, especially when you’re tired. Thankfully, this silicone media wallet allows you to keep your essential items together in one convenient location. The best part is that it handily attaches to the back of your phone. Penn State Hair Bows If you’re not a ball cap kind of girl, no worries! Lions Pride has a large selection of Penn State bows that will help pep you up as THON weekend progresses. Penn State Face Tattoos Penn State face tattoos add pizazz to most occasions and THON weekend is no exception. Make sure you stock up on face tattoos for your entire THON committee or organization this weekend. Remember that Lions Pride has tattoo stickers for an easy, water-free application. PSU Socks When you’re planning to be on your feet for up to 46 hours straight, it doesn’t hurt to have an extra two or three pairs of socks handy. Lions Pride carries a variety of fun and festive antimicrobial designs that are sure to keep your feet happy throughout your time in the BJC. We think you’ll agree, the designs are fun too! Gym Shorts for Guys Comfort is essential THON weekend, so for guys, we recommend polyester, moisture-wicking gym shorts from Nike or Under Armour. If you’re traveling to and from the BJC throughout the weekend, you may also want to invest in a pair of sweatpants that you can throw over your gym shorts to keep you warm during your commute and/or while waiting to enter the venue. Gym Shorts and Leggings for Gals Since comfort is key THON weekend, we recommend either performance shorts and/or leggings for the girls. Lions Pride is sure to have practical styles for THON weekend that will easily translate to must-have athleisure pieces the rest of the year. Best of luck this weekend and to everyone involved in THON 2019! We can’t wait to share a dance with you in the BJC. WE ARE!!!
