After a long weekend away, No. 2 Penn State returned home with a big 25-12 win over Michigan and an even more dominant showing in a 48-3 win over Michigan State.

Michigan limited Penn State to mostly decision wins, rather than the famous Nittany Lion bonus-point victories. But hey, a win is a win, even if some of those wins had us on the edge of our seats.

True freshman Nick Lee had his redshirt pulled and made his debut 141. He won a clutch bout for Penn State in the Michigan match then went on to tech No. 20 Joey Gasca at Michigan State. His position at 141 is going to be key for some big team wins for Penn State later this season.

Zain Retherford had an outstanding weekend with two pins. Vincenzo Joseph also had a dominant showing with a major decision and a pin. He was named Big Ten Wrestler of the week for his performance. The rest of Penn State’s middle lineup had some closer matchups at Michigan but returned to their usual big wins at Michigan State.

Nittany Lion fans had been looking forward to Cael Sanderson’s decision on who he would get the go-ahead at 197. At Michigan, No. 10 Shakur Rasheed stepped out on to the mat and dominated No. 11 Kevin Beazley with a 7-1. Then, Anthony Cassar got the call the next day and scored a major in the Michigan State match. Sanderson will continue to keep us on our toes for the time being with who will get the start at 197.
