An Ode to Spring at Penn State

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

Spring Lion I’m sure you’ve noticed, but the weather around here has been downright awful. Not to mention, mean. It will get warm and then in the next hour it’ll start snowing and sleeting. To counter the wretched weather zone that is State College and Penn State, I’ve decided to write an ode to spring.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a poet. This is merely my attempt at an ode for your reading pleasure.

Oh, warm weather, where have you gone?

I miss thee dearly, green Hub lawn.

Playing frisbee out in the sun,

I can only hope for so much fun.

The weather at Penn State is incredibly dreary

Why are these classes oh so weary?

Calculus, English, and Chem Lab

Formulas and papers are really drab.

I wish for clear skies and sunflowers

That vitamin D gives me super powers.

Bunnies, ducklings, and squirrels, oh my!

Warm weather makes the weeks fly by.

The CATA buses shower us as we walk,

Classes thankfully end by Old Main’s clock.

In the cold, we add more layers

We get as big as football players.

How I want Spring to be here

To warm the Penn State that we hold dear.

“For the Glory” we will sing,

When the Seniors graduate in Spring!

Well, there you have it! I think that pretty much captured my feelings toward this long, nasty winter. Penn State in the Spring is really beautiful because of how green the campus is and the abundant flowers make it extra cheery. Hopefully we’ll get the beginnings of Spring at Penn State when we come back from break. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Spring Break!
